While the number of EV charging infrastructure is growing fast, and there are currently around 900.000 EV recharging stations in Europe, to meet the European Commission's target of 3.5 million charging points by 2030, an additional 400.000 new points will have to be deployed each year. Ultimately, a lot of the responsibility will fall on local and regional authorities. Cities and regions are tasked with addressing this challenge while simultaneously ensuring alignment with their planning, parking, and mobility strategies. They are also strong enablers of electromobility, with their public procurement obligations for electric vehicles. In this panel discussion, we will delve into some of the challenges and opportunities that cities and regions are currently facing when addressing the electromobility transition and ensuring a cleaner air for their citizens.
